It’s the type of loyalty a sports-car maker would kill for, and an odd sentiment for a vehicle that’s ostensibly made for work, and therefore as a purchase should be subjected to a flinty sort of cost-benefit analysis.

The problem with this argument is the fact that cars today are far more often written off as totaled by insurance agencies simply because such repair and replacement costs are so high. Let a salvager fix it if they want; they want nothing to do with it any more.
