Range is another major drawback for electric cars, and the easiest way to increase it is to cram more storage capacity into a vehicle. Take the Nissan Leaf, for example: it launched in December 2010 as a 2011 model with a 24-kilowatt-hour battery pack, then got an upgrade to 30 kWh for the 2016 model year. For the second-generation 2018 Nissan Leaf, capacity was bumper 40 kWh.
Right now, the 2019 Silverado and the 2019 Ram 1500 are the top contenders in the pickup segment. The F-150 has a little catching up to do, though itâs the only one currently available with a turbodiesel engine. Toyota and Nissanâs entries need their next refresh to play at this level.

1. Powerband. Initial throttle response is quicker, but the power gain from low to mid is slower.2. Airbox. We have never experienced a KTM that didn’t breathe, but the 2019 450SXF’s all-new airbox holds the engine back— especially in the low-to-mid transition. We drilled holes in the airbox cover to gain power, switched to the quick-turn throttle cam and added a tooth to the rear sprocket to liven things up.3. Sprocket. Watch the sprocket bolts closely—and not just when the wheels are new. They loosen up constantly.4. Spokes. KTM redesigned its spoke nipples for 2019 to keep them from coming loose. It didn’t work.5. Frame. The more rigid frame makes the bike more accurate but less forgiving—it is best in the hands of faster riders. Vet test riders liked the 2018 frame better.6. Bars. Most riders did not like the feel of the Neken bars compared to the Husky’s Pro Tapers.
Driving around in the summer or winter without the AC/heater is not good for anyone. Either you are too cold or to hot in the car. Owners of the Silverado 1500 and GMC Sierra 1500 have experienced that and sometimes experienced the heater not shutting off.
4. Having a smooth initial throttle application is crucial off-road, and the various riding modes don’t disappoint, especially with a torque-rich engine such as this one. Rolling the throttle on won’t be met with disaster, as riders will quickly come to terms with the 1200—they’ll be reveling in it with roosts of approval.
Again: The technology isn’t ready yet. For those who think it’s better than nothing, talk to the parents of young children who were killed in parking lot fender-benders while in vehicles with first-generation airbags. It was one thing to test new technology when I was racing cars. I will not be a beta test dummy as a consumer.

You can’t tell the difference between a 700R4 and a 4L60E by the oil pan as they are nearly the same. If the transmission has a large 18-pin electronic connector above the passenger side pan rail, it’s a 4L60E, as seen here. If it has a cable connection near the cooler lines on the passenger’s side, that’s a 700R4.
