The good news is that replacing the leaky master cylinder was an easy job, though space was tight. See the arrow in the picture above? That’s pointing to the clutch fluid reservoir, but the clutch master cylinder itself is wedged between that reservoir and the firewall, so anyone who has enormous hands may want to hire a toddler for this job.

According to Automotive Fleet, GM/ Chevy informed the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration that there was Base radio default in their pickup trucks. The base radio gives off warnings if the key is left in the ignition or if seat belts aren’t clipped on properly. It also warns you if the doors are left open. Without the base radio working correctly it would cause the trucks not to be in compliance with motor vehicle safety standards. The alert can prevent needless injuries, and theft of the vehicle in case a driver or a passenger forgets. Pickup trucks affected are the 2014 Chevy Silverado 1500 and the 2005 Silverado HD. There were no deaths or injuries reported due to this defect but Chevy took it seriously and fixed it of no charge to the customers.

I don’t see a receipt for a clutch or for a slave cylinder (which is in the transmission bell housing). The previous owner did tell me the slave has been swapped, though, so that’s comforting, even if I’d rather see it on paper.

Bleeding the system took forever, as I hadn’t bench-bled the master cylinder, so there was tons of air in the system. Still, it wasn’t rocket science.

Parking sensors have been a much-request feature since the launch of the second-generation Colorado for the 2015 model year, and we’re glad to see Chevy adding it. Though definitely useful and welcome, all Colorado models come with a standard rear view camera, and some might find the addition of the parking sensors at the rear somewhat redundant.

The changes made to the 2019 Suzuki BFRC shock are a big improvement over the 2018 shock setup. We had to drop the sag down to 108mm to balance out the rear with the front. The softer and shorter rear shock spring takes a lot of load off the touchy front end and allows the Suzuki to absorb the small stuff that it ignored in 2018.

Kawasaki has been inching away from its upright steering sensation for a few years, but for 2019 it completed the transformation. The 2019 Kawasaki can turn in with confidence, but most important it stays planted on turn exit better than the Yamaha, Honda or Suzuki. It doesn’t hurt that the KX450 is 5 pounds lighter than the closest Japanese-built bike. When you are leaning into a rut on the edge of the balance point, 5 pounds is a big deal. We rate the KX450 handling ahead of the YZ450F.
