Bleeding the system took forever, as I hadn’t bench-bled the master cylinder, so there was tons of air in the system. Still, it wasn’t rocket science.
A. You’re not supposed to brake hard for animals. If slowing can help you avoid it, ok, but a panic brake for a deer in the road can help you lose control if you add any other inputs at the same time. It also tests anyone else’s reaction on the road around you. I personally don’t like that this is the appropriate logical way to deal with animals in the road, but it is generally the safest for drivers on the road.
All of these systems are introduced for 2 reasons – as i said initially, bad auto design, and additionally, bad driver education. So fix the real issues here and let’s start having cars designed to facilitate good driving, not try to correct for bad driving. Can we get cars with appropriately sized windows and belt line that don’t eliminate and downward point of view to the road? And also, headlights are finally starting to get looked at. And then the bad driving is obvious, too – we need to actually teach people how to drive and enforce it. I’d much rather pay more for driver education than for awful driver assist aids that i don’t need or want.
Flex-a-Lite Flex-Wave FanThe Flex-Wave fan from Flex-a-Lite is like a successful reinvention of the wheel. Using computational fluid dynamics software, the company has designed and built fan blades that move up to 20 percent more air than its own Trimline fans and up to 25 percent more than competitive products. Not only is it more efficient, it’s quieter. The sine-wave-blade design cuts through the air with multiple leading edges, instead of one large edge like most fans. Pair that with new surface designs and variations in the trailing edge of the blades, and its efficiency is increased.
What we know about the interior is this: Itâs bigger than before. Chevy added 1.6 inches to the truck overall, and 3.9 inches to the wheelbase on the crew cab models. The new space was mostly added to the cabs in the back seat (except for the Work Truck trim, which doesnât have a back seat). The Crew Cab models are much improved in back seat space and comfort, and the extended cab models get more space as well. Chevrolet also announced increased cargo box capacity.
The other new engine option for the 2019 Silverado, which Chevy previously discussed, is the 3.0-liter Duramax turbodiesel V6. Chevy has declined to discuss horsepower and torque, but says the diesel will be paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission and will be available in early 2019. Despite the Volkswagen emissions scandal, American automakers are embracing diesel for trucks. Ram offered its EcoDiesel for several years, although the model is now on hiatus. Ford recently launched a Power Stroke diesel option for the F-150.
Not knowing the cost of adding seat belts back then, who knows their impact on MSRP relative to hourly wages, then comparing it to our predicament.
The first commercial fuel-cell ferry in the world, Water-Go-Round, will use hydrogen fuel-cells provided by Ontario, Canada-based Hydrogenics to generate power.
Until fully reliable Level 5 Autonomous controls are in the marketplace (a LONG way off in my opinion), there is no substitute for full attention by the driver to the environment and all its complex possibilities.
Combining the factory speedometer in your early muscle car with a 4L60E also requires additional assistance. The 4L60E generates only an electronic vehicle speed output (vehicle speed sensor – VSS), but there are various ways to make this work. The simplest is to use an electronic speedometer that either uses GPS for input to convert the VSS transmission signal to the speedo.
It’s difficult to offer a cost differential between a typical 700R4 and 4L60E overdrive transmission because there are so many variables that will directly affect the end game. The controllers alone vary from $650 to over $1,400. We priced comparable 700R4 and 4L60E transmissions from Hughes Performance for example, and the price difference on just the transmission was only $100 ($1,834 vs. $1,934 through Summit Racing), so based on that, the 4L60E could run an additional $1,000 to $1,200 more depending upon the component choices.
2017 Ford F-150: "The contact owns a 2017 Ford F-150. While driving 25 mph and approaching a stop light, the brake pedal was depressed and traveled to the floorboard. The vehicle failed to stop and crashed into the middle of the front driver side door of another vehicle. There was no warning indicator illuminated. The contact sustained arm injuries, but did not require medical attention. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to the contact’s residence. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 10,000. The VIN was not available." – May 30, 2018
