Many people live in places where a windshield replacement is a rare occurrence. For those of us where it can sometimes be an annual occurrence (re Alberta) that’s a high price to pay for “standard” safety.
Headed up a non-descript, small dune, I gave the truck just enough power to get to the top and as I got there it sounded like a gunshot went off and someone punched me in the side of the head.
While Kostura admitted that he perhaps should have driven his gas 2018 Colorado ZR2 with 2,700 miles on the clock more slowly, he said the trail seemed fairly mild, particularly in the section where the airbags deployed. He guesses that was only about a six to seven degree incline.
Both lane-assist equipped rental cars I’ve tried where the system is on by default have bordered on dangerous to drive when the system introduces an unexpected “nudge” in the steering, in the rain at 70mph on a twisty highway. Absolutely absurd. That was a CX5, the rental XC90 was much the same, on twisty country back roads driving to my brother’s past dark, smoothing out the corners by approaching or putting a wheel on the line made the system flip out and try to “help.” Stupid.
When Camaros were rolling off assembly lines in California and Ohio a half-century ago those fitted with manual transmissions had a simple equalizer shaft and pushrods for clutch release. It took a lot of pedal effort to release the clutch and shift gears, especially if you had a stiff racing clutch. Fifty years later, there’s a better way.
Despite the fact that it is not that advanced as compared to its competitors such as Ford F-150, the GMC still has a reason to survive on the road. The truck comes with an excellent infotainment system that includes Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. It is powered by optional powertrains – including a 6.2-liter V-8 that is mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission. Some of the reasons that you should think twice before buying this truck include off-centre driving position, rough ride over rough pavements and garage-hogging dimensions. The 1999 model fell behind in performance, handling, comfort and family use.
I would love a backup camera. In so many cars of this era it’s very hard to see out the back window, including my ’08 Civic. The general lack of visibility drives me nuts. I’d rather instead of various cameras and warnings, that the feds would mandate visibility. That would make driving more of a pleasure, as well as increasing safety.
The investigation into the issue started back in January of this year, when Harley became aware of an incident in Korea where a crash occurred but no injuries were reported. Brembo and Harley started a joint-investigation the following month, and the NHTSA’s recall team did the same in April.
The other problem, and itâs not just with safety equipment is that while some of this equipment may be justifiable in a mind numbing kid hauler minivan or crossover, there is absolutely no reason to have the same safety and emissions equipment tacked onto something like a muscle car, Wrangler, sports car or pickup. Those vehicles are supposed to be more focused towards performance, work or off-road travel. They arenât likely to see much duty as moms taxi. Those should be treated as specialty vehicles with severely relaxed regulations surrounding them, much like motorcycles already have.
The Chevy Colorado’s first generation was the replacement to the Chevy’s S-10. The truck came with its predecessor’s compact dimensions which didn’t really hold up as well as expected. The 2000s saw the black days for General Motors and the Colorado was the prey of the period. Those who bought the early generation truck – 2004 to 2012 – could complain of the truck’s body rust, fit together with electrical components that continuously failed while its cabin could leak as the truck aged. The truck’s engine sometimes couldn’t be bothered to start. Another issue that has widely been reported about this truck is that its engine stalls.
